Face reflexology research

Facial reflexology is a therapeutic method in which stimulation of the reflex points and zones on the face is utilised in order to alleviate health conditions of the body. By touching the face in this manner for almost an hour, the neuro-biological system and the central nervous system are activated and consequently the entire body with its all systems are in total relaxation for better reparation.

The way this therapy has evolved in the world was through the work and total involvement of a Danish foot reflexologist, Lone Sorensen.

Approximately 30 years ago she was working with children with learning and behaviour difficulties in Denmark doing foot reflexology. The results were good but not lasting and this was the point when she started to look for answers and new methods to improve their condition. She studied many therapies including kinesiology, acupuncture, neurology and anatomy. Her long journey is as follows:

She met Dr. Wong from whom she learnt acupuncture points on the face which will prove to be effective in treating behaviour, concentration and memory problems; the only difference being that her treatments were always performed with the tips of the fingers and not needles as this would be really difficult especially for treatments done on children.

In 1988 she moved to Argentina in a small village where she started her own foot reflexology practice unaware that no one knew what reflexology is. Treating her first patient whom suffered of a leg gangrene she ended up treating 120 people per week.

She met then a small isolated group aboriginal South American Indians women which were into some sort of ritual by touching their faces in a certain and precise movements. Lone was allowed to watch them and she took notes and made draws. She then returned to the village and started to interpret from all the knowledge she gain over the years and started to match the reflex zones on the face with parts and systems in the body. She then used this on a person who suffered brain damage after she had a car accident. This was another turning point in her carer as many people after this person was getting well came to her with all sorts of health conditions.

Another important phase in her discovery was her trip to Cuba in a rehabilitation centre where she gained knowledge in Cybernetic system done by a Vietnamese doctor, Dim Chan. As a result, when she returned to Argentina she created Temprana reflex therapy which is a combination of facial with neurological reflexology (praxis) 80% and neurological hand and foot reflexology 20%.

The conclusion from this story of going to different places is that Lone has developed in two years the basic treatment for facial reflexology with neurological points for specific conditions.  She keeps adding new steps and/or improvements of the basic treatment working together with her team in Barcelona, at her Institute of Reflexology.

After 24 years of work and investigation in numerous countries, her method is available now in rehabilitations centres for patients with brain damage.

Lone Sorensen was given in 2001 a nobility prize for her research and humanitary work by the OHMS, a Humanitary and Health Organization.

Face reflexology Sorensensistem™ is available now in Spain, England, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Japan, Italy and Holland.

I am sure the language won’t be a barrier as Lone herself was teaching in UK while she was not fully fluent in English and that did not stop her to give amazing lectures and courses.
    Good luck!
