Foot reflexology treatment
Session description
Reflexology is the technique of applying gentle pressure over the reflex points found on feet and hands in order to stimulate the body’s own healing capacity. Reflexology promotes relaxation and helps the person return to a state of balance and well-being. The intent of stimulating these reflex points is to eliminate obstruction along the energy channels that are presumed to cause pain and disease, according to Louise Keet and Sala Horowitz.
Through human touch interaction and activation of the pressure points, reflexology helps release stress and tension, improve circulation and digestion and strengthens the immune system. It is frequently used to assist post-operative recovery, to clear the body of toxins and encourage the body to heal current disorders.
The sessions are carried out in my clients’ homes or offices and last an hour. The recipient will sit in a comfortable reclining chair or a sofa and socks and shoes will be removed. I use for treatments Foot balm, Tui, Songbird Naturals Ltd. The first session will take about one hour and a half as a form with any health concerns will be filled in and this will help to adapt the treatment to the person’s needs. The pressure depends on each person and can be synchronised with the needs of the woman, during the session.
Because reflexology helps and acts on the detoxification of the body it is advised that the client makes some small changes in her diet habits in order to sustain the healing process. Depending on the problems and focus of the treatment I would also suggest to drink more water before and especially after the treatment, cutting on caffeine, aspartame and MSG.
Foot Reflexology benefits
Reflexology is based on Zone therapy. There are longitudinal lines of energy in our bodies coming from our head and hands and ending in our feet. The theory is that applying pressure at the end of these energy lines, they are stimulated and cleared and through this process the body’s vital energy is regained.Foot reflexology is the technique of applying gentle pressure to the reflex points on the feet and hands in order to help the body’s own healing process.
When all these energy lines are in balance the whole body is in a state of good health.
Every person, beginning with babies to elderly people, pregnant women and teenagers, can benefit by having a reflexology treatment as a tool to aid different health issues but also for relaxation.
Reflexology does not cure, it does not diagnose, it is not a medical treatment. It facilitates healing.
What are the benefits of having reflexology and who can benefit from it
I believe that reflexology is a powerful therapy that can have far-reaching positive effects on health and well-being.
Reflexology improves circulation
Reflexology balances the whole system
This therapy has a preventive role as well as positive results in coping better when going through illness. The effects of old, unresolved traumas can surface and be healed through reflexology. There is a physical and emotional cleansing which helps patients to have a new start with a new, healthy body.
It is said to be beneficial in helping our bodies to defend, to react through “flight or fight” process.
Reflexology is known for reducing levels of mental and physical stress. It can be blissfully relaxing and the effects are cumulative. First, it relaxes muscular tension, with further treatment the relaxed state becomes well established leading to improved circulation of blood and lymph. There can also be functional improvement to the neuro-endocrine system and the process of homeostasis, toxins are removed and the body’s innate powers of healing are activated. This is relative to the individual’s regenerative powers.
By stimulating the reflex points the therapist works in opening and clearing the pathways of blood flow through the body. All our body’s cells will be more efficient in receiving oxygen, water and nutrients helping the body to function properly; throughout this process the toxins are removed. Reflexology helps in detoxifying the body and the best results are when the person is undergoing a detox period that includes proper diet, lots of pure water, fresh air and exercise.
Reflexology is one of the many alternative therapies which can prevent disease and can help a great deal in improving health in a more rapid way.
